Description

The fastest wideband controller now comes standard with a more durable wideband sensor at no additional cost! The AEM/FAE sensor lasts up to 3x longer than the Bosch 4.9 LSU with a 10% faster response time in testing.

AEM co-developed the new sensor with global automotive supplier FAE, culminating in a new sensor design that has a faster response time than the Bosch 4.9 LSU and is less prone to failure in high performance vehicles.

THE PERFECT PARTNERSHIP
AEM partnered with Barcelona, Spain-based FAE, a 71-year-old company and specialist in the field of multi-layer ceramics, ceramic substrate development and microelectronics integration. FAE is a global automotive supplier with distribution into 97 countries and is ISO, TUV and IATF certified. FAE’s expertise in ceramics and wideband sensor manufacturing made them the perfect partner for AEM in its mission to develop a faster, more durable sensor. While the Bosch 4.9 LSU has excellent light off and response time, its performance tends to diminish rapidly in high performance racing applications where leaded fuels and rich fuel mixtures are more common, as are violent events like 2-step rev limiters in drag racing, high frequency vibrations, and upper rev limiters in drifting and other forms of motorsports. AEM’s goal was to design a sensor capable of surviving for extended periods in these extreme environments, and after five years of development and testing with FAE, the company has validated its new sensor to last longer in harsh environments and have a faster response time than the Bosch 4.9 LSU.

FIELD TESTED
In addition to lab and in-house testing, AEM sent its wideband controllers with the new AEM/FAE sensor to strategic partners with one objective: install it into the most aggressive racing vehicles including turbo rotaries, the most active dyno cells, and street vehicles with long driving loops and let us know when the sensor fails. After a year of use in competition in multiple vehicles and forms of racing, hundreds of dyno pulls and thousands of miles of street use, not one sensor failed.
